BILLIARDS.
Considerable interest is being aroused locally in the forthcoming billiard mutch between Clark AlcConachy, Xcw Zealand Professional champion and Mr J. Bain, our well-known local cueist. The match of 1003 up will be plated with ervstallite halls, AlcConachy conreding Mr Bain Odd start. On AlrConuchy’s last visit to the town in 1020 he compiled a break of <>3o, the biggest ever made on the West Coast, and liewill lie playing on the same table again, so it is hoped he will make another big break r.n this occasion. Air tiavlor. of the Federal Billiard Rooms is going to considerable trouble to make the exhibition a success, and great credit is due to him in this respect. Ample seating accommodation is being provided, and a unique feature is the tact that special sealing is being arranged tor ladies, and it is hoped that a number will avail themselves of the opportunity lo witness tile champions in play. If the fair sex of Hokitika take as much interest- in billiards as was shown ill Dunedin and Christchurch, then ladies will he very much in evidence on Mou(j:,v night. After the match AlcConachy will give an exhibition of trick and fancy shots, and also play a game of snooker.
