NATIONAL WAR FUNDS COUNCIL.

WESTLAND ADVISORY COMMITTEE. •STATEMENT' OF ACCOUNTS . In the annual report of the National War Funds Council for the period ended, March 31st. 1923. the audited statement of accounts of the Westland Advisory Committee for the term from September Utli. 191(3. to March 31st.. 1923, during which the Westland fund has been operated by the War Funds Council, is published. In September, 1.916, £3709 3s 2d was ttnnsfeired from the Westland Patriotic Fund to the National War Funds for administration through the Central Council. In addition additional local collections of £47 14s 2d were raised and a tided to the Imprest Account at Hokitika. The War Funds Council has repaid to the Hokitika Committee in the seven years £7.790. or a balance of £1990 10s 10d over and above the amount originally paid in. Detais of the relief and temporary advances made show the total imprest payments to bo as above stated. £/,/00 and in addition there wore repayments of temporary advances totalling £4.242 lfts lOd, and local collection £47 14s 2d. making a grand total income of £ll.999 fis 0d for the seven years. On tlie expenditure side the payments were: Relief and assistance, £5.013 10s (id, temporary advances £0.0i2 Ins J'L working expenses, £251 12s Id, with a balance in hand of £25 is (id. Mi .1. H. Wilson, audited the accounts on behalf of the Council, and Dir D. J. Evans is tho honorary secretary of the Advisory Committee. The fund continues ’to he available for urgent local requirements in the way ofrelief. assistance and small temporary advances necessitated hv special circumstances. It would appear it was a very fortunate eiiounistanoe which moved the local people when the matter was put to them in 1916. to throw m their lot with the National War Funds Council. The district actually has had the benefit of the local expenditure of all the iiionev it paid into the central fund, plus nearly £2090 of the national funds accumulated for relief purposes under the management of the War Funds Council.
