AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. the POWERS AND CHINA. WASHINGTON, Alay 12. Mr Hughes (Secretary of State) has notified the loading Powers that a coinmission of enquiry into the improvement of the Chinese laws, with a view to withdrawing extra territorial lights in China, will meet at Pekin on November 11 tli. The commission was authorised at the Washington Arms Conference. It will include all the Powers participating in that conference, also Brazil, Denmark, Norway, Peru, Spain and Sweden, all of which have extra, territorial rights. RECIPROCITY PROPOSED. OTTAWA, May 12 Minister of Finance Fielding, in introducing his Budget Bill, inserted a resolution proposing reciprocity with the United States on agricultural produce. A total agreement, lie said, would result in a SlUicr cent reduction in the duties ou cattle and wheat.
