A LOVE TRAGEDY. PARIS, May 12. A love tragedy of two children was revealed when their bodies were found in St. Martin Canal, with their arms clasped around each other. WRIT FOR. I’7ooo DAMAGES. LONDON, May 11. Mr S. W. Bradbury, a South African, has issued writs against the British Empire Exhibition, claiming £'7500 damages for breach of contract and non-payment of promotion expenses, also against Lord Morris, Sir John Taverner, and Colonel 11. AY. Cole, for damages and alleged malicious wrongs and alleged conspiracy. It is understood that many prominent men will ho concerned, including Cabinet Ministers. Mr Bradbury some time ago Issued a pamphlet, in which he claimed to ho the originator of the Exhibition, and reflected strongly on the action of Sir John Taverner in connection with the promotion of tho scheme. A HOTEL FIRE. (Received this dav at 8 a.m.) LONDON, May 12. Guests at the Criterion Hotel, Londonderry, were awakened by a lire and found escape hv means of the staircases impossible. They used bodsheets to lower themselves from the windows. The were mostly emigrants going to America and lost everything they had taken. The. hotel was completely destroyed. The emigrants were unahlo to recover anything and sailed later in the day.
