It is with regret that we report the death of Air Robert H. Halligan, an attendant at the Mental Hospital, under sad circumstances. Deceased, who had distinguished war services, served •it Gallipoli, whore he was wounded in t.h<* head. For gallantry there, he was awarded the D.C.M. After further service he returned to New Zealand, and was domiciled in Russ for some time, some six months ago removing t° Hokitika, where he has since resided. On Thursday night of last week,- lid left his home late at night, and had not been seen since. Yesterday, the police were advised that a hat and a coat, the latter having a letter addressed to tho deceased in a pocket, had been found on the Blue Spur road, anil a search in the vicinity resulted in the finding of the body hanging to a trees. The remains wore brought into time last night. An inquest was opened this morning before Air D. Evans, c.,r,;n“r, for idenrilicatioti purposes, and "as then adjourned to next week. The deceased leaves a widow and family of four, all very voting. Deep sympathy will he extended to them in tiu-ir sad affliction.
