Now the Conservaitve Party is claiming credit for increasing the amount of old age pensions it is interesting to recall that when the measure was intro- 1 duced by the late Mr Seddon, the then leader of the Opposition, Captain Rus- | sell, moved that the title be altered to ■ “The Charitable Aid Extensions Bill” | and amongst those who voted for this was the present, Premier, Mr Massey. The Reform Government have administered this and the great Liberal measures sympathetically enough, but only because they dared not repeal them and their proposed substitution of this cruel slur in tlin title of Mr Soddon’s noble ndvanco to adjustment in our social system betrayed their antagonism to humanitarian progress,
