AIR SEDDON’S COAIMITTEE. j The general committee formed at Hokitika in tile interests of Mr Sed-; don’s candidature met at the County Chambers on Saturday niglit for the . purpose of gleaning particulars ot the final reports and formally disbanding. In the unavoidable absence of Air .Duff, Air Evans presided over the meeting , of ladies and gentlemen present. I Air Evans, on behalf of Mr Seddon, took occasion to thank the ladies and gentlemen for their co-operation in ihe | election preparations, and was able to give a very satisfactory report as to tile prospects of Hokitika and district affecting Air Seddon’s candidature. Some interesting comparative figures were given in relation to the probable voting, which went to show that the Liberal candidate would poll very well throughout this district and in the , south. In regard to the north, it was stated Mr Seddon was making very good headway, and was well pleased with the outlook in the quarter. Re-1 ference was made to the good meetings held in the various centres and the amount of public interest aroused at all places whore he had spoken. Genetali\ the feeling in regard to the outcome of the contest on Thursday was very optimistic, and it was confidently expected Air Seddon would on ’llnirsday retain the title of Member for \\ ost--111 On behalf of Mr Duff thanks were conveyed to the meeting .for the assistance rendered by the ladies and gentlemen, and to all who had assisted in the campaign. Friends in the count! y districts who had assisted as correspondents were not forgotten m the remarks of appreciation on behalf ot the Chairman of Committee The best or good wishes were extended to Mr hendon for the coming polling, and after a general discussion in regard to canons matters; the Committee formally disbanded.
MR SEDDON IN THE NORTH. Mr I'. E. Y. Seddon addressed a goodiy number of residents at tlie Kaiata schoolroom on Saturday evening, and received a most attentive hearing. His meeting was perfectly orderly, and not a single question was asked. At the conclusion of his address, a vote of thanks to the Liberal candidate, which was moved by Mr, Jas Blewman, and seconded by Mr A. Bradley, "-as carried unanimously. Mr Seddon moved a vote of thanks to the chairman, Air F. B<ddock.' Air Seddon’s committee met at Greymouth on Saturday and before disbanding very favorable reports were received in respect to the campaign in the borough and suburbs. It was expected that Mr Seddon would have a record meeting at the Opera House, Greyntouli, to-night. Air Seddon trill close his campaign at Otirn bii Wednesday night and the next morning visit Kumsirn, find Hokitika.
AIR LYNCH’S CANDIDATURE, Air J. D. Lynch (West Coast Progressive Candidate) addressed a large audience at Kumars on Saturday at 7.30, and also a. large meeting at Greyniouth at 9.30 the same night. This (Atonday) morning at 7.45 o’clock Afr Lynch addressed 160 watersiders at the wharf shed, and at 12.30 p.m. addressed a large meeting of railwaymen at the railway sheds, Greymoutn.
