The compulsory coal Conference decided that the darg at Richmond main colliery shall he lifted Lieutenant Colonel Paul of Bathurst who commanded the 19th and 54th. battalions in the European war was killed in a motor smash at Rydal. In the Practice Court here, an application was made bv the Electrolytic zinc company for an injunction to restrain the Engineers’ Union from striking or assisting in a 'strike of the Company’s employees for the purpose of securing a reduction of the working hours from forty-eight to forty-four weekly. The application was dismissed.
CARPENTER’S CAPTURE, HOBART, October 15
When, the police surrounded his hut, Carpenter was asked to surrender. He replied by firing several charges from a shot-gun. He screamed when the police fired 'and wounded him. The police then rushed and broke into the hut.
