In the Practice Court here, an application was made bv the Electrolytic zinc company for an injunction to restrain the Engineers’ Union from striking or assisting in a 'strike of the Company’s employees for the purpose of securing a reduction of the working hours from forty-eight to forty-four weekly. The application was dismissed.

CARPENTER’S CAPTURE, HOBART, October 15

When, the police surrounded his hut, Carpenter was asked to surrender. He replied by firing several charges from a shot-gun. He screamed when the police fired 'and wounded him. The police then rushed and broke into the hut.
