game at Christchurch. The match opened sensationally, Mizen, the centre forward, scoring for the Province in the first three minutes. Half-time saw Canterbury leading by two goals to one, Norman, inside left, adding another goal lor Canterbury and Maunder goaling for Australia. The second half was characterised by speedy up-and-down play, each side making many shots. Mizen being again successful. Although defeated, the Australians played splendid football and in combination were probably superior, but were defeated bv weakness in shooting, also in being pitted against a remarkably clever goalkeeper in Wilson, who saved time and again.
