SYDNEY, April 26 The taking over control of State enterprises which was part of the scheme of economy, was transferred from separate departments to a branch of the Public Works Department. Mr Henley said the policy of Government was to encourage private enterprise in every way. He foreshadowed a review of the whole State enterprise, scheme, on strictly economical lines, securing the high.csts tamlard of efficiency and full value for any expenditure, which might be sanctioned. A reduction ol staffs was indicated.

The conference convened by the Minister of Customs, of those interested in superphosphates and sulphur industries, appointed a committee to report upon the scheme of developing this new vitally important national industry, without detriment to other primary producing interests.

A LABOR PROTEST. MELBOURNE, April 26
It is stated that the I'Ydrial Labour Party intends to vigorously protest against Mr 11u;dies’ action in approving of the wireless scheme, without the consent of Parliament. It is (untended it is a dangerous precedent to commit the community to an expenditure of half a- million without I'nrliamenarv sanction.

Cabinet have approved of a set of proposals by Sir G. Knllor for the extension of country developmental workin which he is seeking the eo-nperal ion of the Federal Government. Thy include preparing lands for settlement training farms and irrigation schemes which will provide worlc for unemployed and immigrants. Special attention, is being directed to Murray Valley lands in New South Wales and Crown Lands between the Great Northern Railway, and north coast railway; also tho hy-dro-electric schemes at Rurrinjuck and Clarence River. Sir G. Fuller is socking to secure an agreement with the Federal Government, and if necessary the British Government to finance the scheme.

Tt is anticipated the Federal Budget which will he delivered shortly, will show a more satisfactory position than anticipated. The customs revenue is already in excess of the estimates and other sources of revenue have also proved elastic. This, combined with the substantial reductions in expenditure i« expected to produce a surplus.
