Dr \\ . S. Bruce, leader of the Mount Eve; e.sl expedition, in a despatch dated April 4th, says the main bodv of the expedition wa s then at Yatung. A: were fit and well, and the weather was perfect.
Dr Bruce received a telegram from Daijeeling, sent by the Dope, who is a he n and skill id Alpinist, and has often encountered Lieutenant-Colonel Strutt (''lie of the six climbers) in the high Aliis. Dr li'■ uce delivered a message from Major-General ]{aden-Powe!l. to the Ihiy Scouts of Kalimpong, where the movement is nourishing. Marching up the Inehumbi Valley, Dr Bruce was struck by the extraordinary richness and variety of forest s •enery, and mountain sculpture. There was no transport difficulty, the baggage being funded by Tibetan mules, the hardiest, in the country. Tlie most trying stage was that between Rongli and Gnatong, the distance apart by map being eight miles, but in altitude 10,000 ft. Two days were occupied in traversing the track, widen wound up among blooming rhododendrons and magnolias.
