SLIPS AT OTIRA.
TUNN KIL REQ UISITIONED (Grey Argus;)
An a result of the slips in the Otira Gorge, the coaches could not get through yesterday; consequently other arrangements were made, and accordingly passengers and mails were conveyed through the tunnel from both ends. A large number of passengers left Greymouth yesterday morning together with a large mail. The inward mail last night also was heavy Gangs are engaged on the work of clearing the slips and it is expected that the road will he dear in time to enable the coaches to get through tomorrow.
Passengers by the express yesterday found it very convenient being transferred through the tunnel, on account of the very heavy rain, which fell at various intervals throughout the day. The passengers were very impressed with the marvellous construction of the tunnel and thoroughout enjoyed the .run through. The express arrived an hour later than its scheduled time last evening.
