DUNEDIN, Feb. 15
At the Supreme Court to-day George Devinney, who was yesterday found guilty, with a strong recommendation to mercy, on a charge of shooting with intern to do grievious bodily harm, came up for sentence.
Mr Justice Sim said in view of the jury’s recommendation and accused’s previous good chamfer, he would be justified in indicting a pecuniary penally. Accused was fined £SO.
Fidmund Traherne was charged with attempted murder and shooting with intent to do grievious bodily harm to one, George Wilson, of Cannibal Ray, Owakn. Accused was found not guilty. Both charges of shooting appealed to tie theresult of a drunken spree. Robert Brims, storekeeper, of Kurow, was charged with having had carnal knowledge with a girl of 14 years of age. He was found guilty. Sentenced to two years’ hard labor.

At the Supreme Court, John Neil, for causing actual bodily harm, was sentenced to nine months’ hard labor.
Christopher Nevin was charged with assault on William Churchill, at Taurangn, on November 28, when the latter had left with Mrs Churchill a bag of cabbages, to which proceeding the accused forcibly objected.
The jury found a verdict of guilty on tlie charge of assault, causing actual bodily harm.
The Judge said the accused had denied any improper relations with eomplainant’s wife. No doubt an assault had been committed. No provocation had been established. The accused was a man of integrity and repute. The assault had no doubt been animated by a sense of wrong doing. Accused was not a man of criminal tendencies. He did not intend to send him to prison, but imposed a fine of £25.
