''From a Correspondent). A meeting of the Waiho Charitable Aid Committee was held on February Bth., 1922. Present were : Messrs J. Green (chairman) M. Carroll, L. Gibb, F. Gibb, T. Watson, C. Gibb, A. Graham, J. Donovan, E. Gibb, J. Schilling. By special request Sister Gunn attended the meeting. The meeting discussed the recent controversy between Mr Ritchie and Mr L. Gibb and the following resolution was passed.

Proposed by Mr A. Graham, seconded by Mr F. Gibb and carried unanimous.

“This Committee is highly indignant at the remarks against us, Mr Ritchie has been publishing. His statements as regards the Nures’ operations in tSoutlj Westland are distinctly untrue. Sister Gunn’s operations, for the last .year only, are over £BO. This Committee wishes the Westland Charitable Aid Board to ask Mr Ritchie to resign from his position as member of' the Board, as he does not seem to be able to keep bis private grievances from, his duties hs a public representative.”

The letter from the Westland Charitable Aid Board was then read and discussed ; and on the proposal of Mr JSchilling seconded by Mr M. Carroll the following answer to it was carried unanimously: “This Committee is not in favour of any other land to be secured, but the 'me already selected, which is surv c '-”

and a certain amount of mone y lias already been spent on it. It should also b» very little trouble to obtain a freehold title by your Board. We also wish to again inform the Board, that the money we hold, is only available for a cottage on the South side of the Waiho River. The building we want is a four roomed residence, nothing else.
