Hokitika High School Board.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 11th. The Board met at 7 p.m. Present: lion H .L. Michel (Chairman), Duff, King, Murdoch and Bruce. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Knnieri Electric Ltd. asking for permission to erect two electric power poles on the Board’s reserve.—Received. The Chairman reported he had granted permission. Action of Chair man approved. From Otago Board of Governors re medical inspection of children. —Received. From the Audit Inspector stating the Board had no-, power to grant a vote of £lO 10s for school memorial fund. —Received. From same, returning balance sheet for year 1919-20, duly certified to.— Received. From Commissioner of Crown Lands asking what lease would be given in the event of erecting a fence on Board’s reserve. Received; a lease for 14 years was agreed to. The advisability of investing some of the Board’s funds in war bonds was discussed and consideration deferred. Exception was taken to the large amount of rates charged for Government House • reserve and the mat' was referred to the Chairman to make enquiries. Messrs Murdoch and King reported that electric light had been installed in Government house, and it was resolved to increase the rental 2s 6d weekly , to meet expense of same.
Accounts amounting to £IOB 9s lOd were passed for payment and the meeting terminated.
