j (Press Correspondent). LONDON, Alay 9. Sir Joseph and Lady Ward attended ■ the choral Requiem Mass in the Catli- . cdral Church at Metone, France, for General Sir John Cowans, Q.M.G., of the British Army during ithe war. Mrs Frank Dyer, of Wellington, and her daughter left on Friday (Alay 6) ; for France. They go to Arras first, then on" to Paris and will stay at the Hotel Continental 2, Rue Cntiglione. If time allows they will go on to Switzerland. Air and Airs Thos. W. Beare, of Hokitika, are visting the Old Country only for a few months, and are staying at Hendon Hall, 'London. Air Beare was formerly in practice for many years as a. barrister at Hokitika, and after a long colonial experience had a longing to see once more the south of England, where he was born. Air and Airs Beare are 'both charmed with London and find the weather, though “nippy” at times, fairly agreeable. They purpose spending a couple of months here and then doing the Cornish Riviera and then to winter in France. They return to Australia via Canada and New 1 Zealand.
