KIDNAPPED GIRL.
NEW YORK, Ecb. 2. Scarsdale, a prosperous residential suburb iu the outer ring of New York’s environs, corresponding to Cbisle'liurst, was startled early this morning by a fusilade of pistol shots which broke out when 1-1 armed men burst into a house and kidnapped a young woman staying with the owner and his wife. One of the men alleged that the girl was his wife, for whom he had searched for several months. The daughter of the house was wounded in the head by a bullet and the interior of the building partly wrecked by the invaders. A fresh reign of terror on the highways around New York was started early yesterday morning by the robbing of 17 members of the County ( lub at Short Hills, New Jersey, as they were leaving after a dinner party. The scene of the crime was the entrance of the drive leading trom the cluh. As the diners drove down to the main road in four motor ears they found their path blocked. As soon as the cat's stopped each was approached by two masked, armed men and the occupants ordered to throw up their hands. AH obeyed except Air Robert lluse, « prominent lawyer, who hit the nearest robber in the jaw and was shot in the arm in return. The men of the party were commanded to give up their money, the highwaymen telling the women they could keep their jewels. Having collected thir booty, the highwaymen entered the first car and told the owner “to drive like the devil.” They guided him to n spot three miles away, where they alighted, |,ado him good-night, and disappeared. No trace of them has been lound.
