AUCKLAND, March 8. The manager of the Port ot Auckland Shipping and Stevedores’ Asociation. has issued the following statement to,j :l v:—“Owing to a cargo ot Natal coais mi board the S.S. Cape Premier, at present, lying at Auckland, having become heated, it is deemed advisable to discharge same without further delay, ihe accessary labour has been engaged from the ranks of the local Waterside Workers’ Union, and discharge of the coal commenced at 1 p.m. to-day.
AUCKLAND GAS SUPPLY. AUCKLAND. Alarch 8. Gas pressure was greatly reduced today, and cooking, except between -1.39 and 6.30 p.m. was practically impossible. Even if the waterside dispute is settled immediately ,U will be some days' before the Gas Company is able to restore normal conditions.
