(Reuter’s Teleg/am.,’ THE MACROOM AMBUSH. LONDON, December 7. A military enquiry was held respecting the Macroom ambush. Medical evidence disclosed that in some cases death was due to explosive bullets, while in others the body was scorched by powder, and in one case a skull was fractured after death. Police raids for Sinn Feiners continue in London and Liverpool. Several arrests have been made.
HOME RULE BILL ALTERED. LONDON, ..December 2 - The House of Lords has, by 120 votes to 36, amended the Government’s Home Rule Bill, with a clause creating second chambers for both the North and the. South of Ireland. The amendment was carried despite Lord Birkenhead’s protests. He protested that no second chamber could bo devised which would not destroy the representative character elf ithe first chambers. Lcjrds Middleton, Selbourno and Crewe opposed. Lord Birkenhead later said that their Lordships had made a big hole in the Bill. He was doubtful if the whole Bill would survive such a blow.
SEARCHING FOR SINN FEINERS. LONDON, December 2. The “Daily Chronicle” reports that Scotland Yard, as a result of its London raids, is iff possession of important documents, including a list of active Sinn Feiners in Britain. It also has clues regarding the whereabouts of wanted men and women which the police are following up vigorously.
