an easier market. (By telegraph —Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding tbeir stock sale yesterday:— * Store sheep.—Another small entry mostly shorn wethers, which sold equal to last week’s rate. A few woolley sheep were offered, but there was no demand and practically were unsaleable. A few extra good ewe hoggets made up to 26s 6d. All other quotations are unchanged. Beef. —A smaller yarding than last j week, but the quality generally was indifferent. The market, especially for inferior sorts, was again easier and general to decidedly dull. Prime steers sold from £2O to £25 ss; a few extra quality making £2B to £34 15s; mediuf £l4 15s to £l9 10s; light unfinished £9 10s to £l4. Best cows to £lB, and heifers to 19; medium and inferior and £7 10s to £10; hotter sort* £lO 15s to £l4 15s. Store Cattle.—A very heavy yarding quality was indifferent, and tone of the market decidedly flat, with no animation. Best 3 and 4-yr old bullocks £9 to £il iOs, a few making £l2; 2 2-yr steers £5 to £8 ss; yearling steers £4 5s to £5 ss; M.S. yearlings, £2 10s to £4 2s 6d. Store cows £3 10s to £7 ss; 18-mos to 2-yr old £4 15s to £8 ss. Mutton. —A smaller yarding than last week, but ho very decided improvement in the tone of the market, and at no tiriie was it go low as at the finish of last week’s sale. Two West Coast buyers operating, helped to keep the market firm. Best wethers, 37s 6d to 455; I prime 31s to 375; lighter and inferior, 26s fid to 30s 6d. Ewes were in the ; same parity. All quotations are for i shorn sheep.
