IN IRELAND.
(Reuter’s Telegram.) REPRISALS IN CORK. , LONDON, Nov 28. There were further reprisals in Cork this morning, three laige buildings being burned down. The damage is estimated at £IOO,OOO. The outbreaks started at one o’clock at a house, which was prominently identified with Sinn Fein propaganda and quickly spread to large drapery and boot stores. There was considearble looting until the military arrived and formed a cordon around the premises.
THE HOSTILITIES, LONDON, Nov 28
Th 0 shooting in Ireland during the week-end included two soldiers, who were ambushed at Kilderry, and four others who were wounded.
j The troops at Kilderry, in an error shot the school teacher, who, with a number of other men were fleeing- as j the troops approached. The teacher i and the other men were apparently frightened. The troops believed they were engaged in some crime. ; REPRISALS DAMAGE IN CORK. (Received This Day at 8.30 a.m.j LONDON, Nov 28. The damage through arson reprisals for missing officers at Cork exceeds a quarter of. a million. The occupants were warned in writing immediately to vacate) or take the consequences, the notice being signed “Black and Tans, God Save the King.” DOWNING ST PRECAUTIONS (Received This Day at 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, Nov 28. The “Daily News” states Downing Street barricades are not solely due to the Irish situation. The police consider general precautionary measures advisable in view of the black winter outlook, high public feeling and recent unemploy ment riot. The measures are likely to be applied to the Houses of Parliament and other public buildings. Private wires have been laid from Downing St. to the police headquarters and large police reserves are ready.
