Inland Development to be Fostered. To divert population from the cities to the country towns, the Development League has been formed in Victoria, its object being to encourage new industries in the country towns. A number of inland towns, once the centres of gold fields, are to-day making little progress, but there are some splendid examples of dying towns transformed into prosperous manufacturing or farming centres. These have created in the minds of the members of the new move ment a picture of what is possible, and a determined effort is to be made to attract the attention of intending manufacturers to th e advantages of many of the districts for secondary production.
