BOWLING CARNIVAL

The Bowling Carnival on Saturday afternoon on the local Club’s green was favored with fine weather, in spite of threatening conditions in the morning ‘ and proved an unqualified success, the j financial result far exceeding expecta- • tions. There was an excellent attend ante present during the afternoon, and the green wore a busy aspect. Just inside the main gate, the ladias produce stall was placed and here a busy trade was done, splendid values resulting in the stall being quickly sold out. Meanwhile on the green there were competitions of various sorts in full swing all the afternoon bowling (drawing), golf (putting) and croquet while in the pavilion the ladies supplied afternoon tea an dainty style. Much interest was shown in the various competitions and the finishes in some were in doubt right to the last, the golf putting competition being won on the last round of the day, after the first round had put up a mam that remained unbeaten till the very last. The Club desires to express its best thanks to all donors for the generous support accorded, to the general public for their valued attendance and support, and last, but not least, to the lady supporters who gave such valuable | services in arranging and assuring the ■J success that resulted. The winners of the various competitions were as follows: Patting—Mr J, R. Hickson (Mrs P. R. Stewart’s prize) . Putting (novices): Master Andrew Hickson (Mr R, S. Galbraith’s prize). Drawing—Mr W. H. Bishop (Mr H. A. 'Thompson’s prize). Drawing (novices) —Mr A. Graham, (Mr P. R. Stewart’s prize.) Croquet—Mr J. Bain (Mrs Galbraith’s prize). Wheelbarrow (presented by Mr W. ,H. Bishop)—T. W. Bruce, j Tin of Tea (presented by Mr G. A. | Perry),—Mrs Dalgliesh. j Hall Stand (presented by Mr Stevenson—Mr J. Wallace.
