The police have been notified that a 'shooting affiray with serious consequences occurred at Carterton on Saturday evening. It is alleged that Frederick Thompson, a labourer, after a drinking bout shot, Antony Rzoska, a labourer, aged 26 who now lies in a critical condition at Greytown Hospital. Thompson has been arrested. Rzoska was found in 'Thompson's whare, where it is"believed the two men went after leaving the township. The shooting was done with a Webley revolver. The bullet entered Rzoska’s next on the left side, coming out at an angle, and just missing the throat. THE INJURED MAN. CARTERTON, Nov. 22': Greytown Hospital, this morning reports the condition of Rzoska is still the same. The chances of recovery are slight. ACCUSED REMANDED. CARTERTON, Nov. 22. Thompson was charged with attempted murder of Rzoska. He was brought before Justices this morning and remanded for a. week. No baiPwas asked by Counsel. Accused said he was an ex-policeman and wished to say ha had been drinking heavily for some time. Rzoska talked fight and in the beat of the moment he (accused) picked up the revolver and fired. He expressed sorrow for the act.
