‘AUSTRALIAN A N.Z. CABLE ISSOCIATIOnI U.S. LABOUR FEDERATION. (Received This Day at 9.45 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Nov. 17. The Executive Council of the American Federation of Labour is holding a conference with Mr Hoover and group industrial engineers concerning economy in the industrial conditions in the United States, presumably for the purpose of urging a legislative programme, which Congress will be urged to adopt. It is understood the Federation seeks to •harmonise industry, establish co-opera-tive shop management, repeal existing laws regarding ■ compulsory arbitration, and opposes the laws restricting workmen from shopping work; it also desires to retrict immigration from all parts of the world.
