[ AUSTRALIAN & N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION] PRESIDENT AND LEAGUE OF NATIONS. (Received This Day at 10.40 a.m.) . WASHINGTON, Nov,. 17. President, Wilson lias sent a message to M. Hymans, President of the League of Nations, expressing hope and Confidence that the Assembly’s labours w ould be of immense value to the whole civilised world. Mr Wilson has received a cable from M. Hymans (on behalf of the League) wishing him a speedy recovery, and stating that the Assembly recognised he had done more than any other man to lay the foundation of the League. (Received This Day at 9.45 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 17. The Australian press correspondent at Geneva reports Mr Milieu has joined all the Commissions. Sir J. Allen participates in Commissions three to six. The Assembly began a discussion on the Secretary General’s report on the Council’s work. The report shows a special committee on finance is of opinion that best advices of a financial capacity were the population, and nett revenue in fixing contributions, but left the final decision with the Assembly,, In view' of the importance of allowing as much time as possible to the principal powers, the Council decided to defer the presentation of the report on mandates to the Assembly till the latest possible date.
