PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

lAUSTBALIAN <fe N.Z GABLE ASSOCIATION J MR WILSON’S APPROVAL. WASHINGTON, Oct. 29. Mr Wilson sent a letter to Mr Cox. expressing admiration of the latter s course throughout the Democratic campaign, and predicting that Mr Cox will receive the voters’ emphatic endorsement. The President stated: “as a voter I wank to express my entire confidence in you, and my confident hope that under your leadership we may carry the National Government policy forward, along the path of liberal legislation and reform, until the whole world will again see an illustration of ti e wholesome strength of democracy.”

REPUBLICANS EXPECT VICTORY (Received this day at 8 a.m.) NEW YORK, Oct. 30.

Unlike .the 1911 campaign, the outcome of the election is generally considered as a certain Republican victory. The Republicans are confidently predicting the so-called landslide in favour of Mr Harding. Republicans claim it is not one issue that will give them the victory. They say the people are tired of the Democratic one man rule, and desire above all things, a change. There is .a great deal of similarity between this campaign and the 1916 contest. Mr Bryan then a remarkable leader, championed the silver issue and made it the paramount question of the campaign. It was as widely and intensely discussed as the League is now. Mr Bryan was overwhelmingly defeated.
