The certainty of a stoppage of the Cas supply on Thursday night has almost depleted the town and suburbs oi substitutes for heating and lighting ■Hardware dealers are near the end ol their stocks of lamps and oil burners 'rhere have been enormous sales o! candles and kerosene. 'Many who rely on gas for cooking, are constructing temporary fireplaces fitted to burn wood. Many restaurants are depending on gas for cooking will close down The Railway services will be strengthened by another extra train to convey suburban people to business.
