KILLED BY AEROPLANE. (Received this day at 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 9. Arthur Tattle, a visitor from Wellington was on the grounds of the •Mascot aerodrome photographing an aeroplane when one of the lvings of a rising aeroplane struck him on the head and he died in a few minutes after admission to the hospital.
GLOAMING TO SPELL. , SYDNEY, September 10. According to a veterinary surgeon, who examined Gloaming (who yesterday pulled up bleeding from the nostrils freely after a fast run), tho trouble is deep-seated, and it would be unwise to race him until lie has hajd a spell for some months. The veterinary surgeon considers.that a suspension of his preparation is absolutely necessary.
WHAT WORKERS WANT. SYDNEY, September 10. A pamphlet circulating amongst the iron-workers states: “We do not desire this light' to be a 1917 fiasco. An example is given us by our comrades in Italy.” Tlie pamphlet continues: “Let us have no starvation strikes. Why should your wives and children starve when there is plenty of everything in Australia and that produced by you !” DON’T WANT PROHIBITION. ADELAIDE, Sept. 8. The Anglican Synod rejected a motion in favour of prohibition, as it was known that a majority of Anglicans disapproved of prohibition, and passed a motion in favour of legislation against intemperance.
