1 The Committee met at 7,45 p.m. last 1 nigin. Present: —Messrs IV. H. Shan- • non (Chairman), E. W. Fecldersen, W. ■j E - Richards, Rev Purchas and S. J. I. Preston (Hon. Sec.) An apology was ■ made for the absence of Mr Aitken. • Tiie minutes were continued and outk ward correspondence approved. 1 INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. ! From Miss Dixon, reporting average • attendance was 7 iioys,' 8.5 girls, 15.5 out ol roll number 17 • stating the school had been closed for 3 days hist week owing to reduced attendance,- stuping the shelter shed had not yet been attended to, jind referring t'o other re- 1 quirementg,-—Received. It was resolved to send oyer ;i barrel of tar for asphalting. It was resolved to draw the attention ol the Board to flip gorse on the boundary fences causing (.rouble and to ask for attention. From West Coast Rugby Football League, Gpeyinouth, asking for a .school ( hojiday on Wednesday jjext 011 thp oc? , casioi) of (he visit of British League team to Qi'eymouth,—-Received, From C, Cook, complaining of action of teacher in reducing her son from Standard 3 to Standard 2; and also Rector’s reply stating the course had been followed owing to weakness of tho pupil.—Received j action of Rector upheld. From Canterbury Education Board, stating request for •building' material from Dillmans School had been referred to Forymaij. for report.—Received. From Rangipra High Sohoof Board, supplying information of wprking pf hostel.—R.eepiyed. It was resolved to ask Air Bruce fo
urge the matter of a hostel on his approaching visit fo Wellington, pn the Education authorities, •Air Preston moved that the school remain closed for another week In lieu of holidays, and reopen on the 23rd August.—Seconded by Rev Purchas and carried. Mr Preston moved that the Borough Council be requested to improve the easferi; half pf Cass Square to enable children to use it for sports purposes. —Seconded by Air Fecldersen and carried. The accounts were passed for payment. Afessrs Richards and Purchas were appointed visitors. The Committee then rose.
