A STEEL MOVE. (Rccqjved this day al 9.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, 'August 5. Tile Executive Council of the American Federation of Labour will open a new steel- war by ordering that the right of assembly and free speech for Union labour organisers and sympathisers in steel making territories, be made political issues at the coming election. This is a prelude to a movement to unionise, plants in the whole industry.
AN AMERICAN SENSATION. (Received tins day at 9.30 a.m.) Washington, August 5. President Wilson lias ordered five destroyers to patrol Florida coast and prevent bv force if necessary the landing of the Western Union Telegraph Company's cable from Barbadoes to Florida The State Department delayed action by the President’s permission pending a result of International communications by Congress. The Captain of the cable, ship has been ordered by the British Ambassador to await instructions.
