PONSONBY MURDER

STATEMENT BY GUNN. OTHER MEN IMPLICATED. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 20. Dennis Gunn, whose execution is fixed for Tuesday morning, lias made a statement before a Magistrate regarding the Ponsonby murder. The statement will be handed to the sheriff to-morrow morning. Meanwhile nothing lias been disclosed. AUCKLAND, This Day. A voluntary statement concerning the murder of A. Braithwaite and the subsequent burglary at Ponsonby Post Office was made on Saturday afternoon by Dennis Gunn, who was condemned to death for the former crime. The state_ rrient was taken by Mr Poynton S.M. in his official capacity, at Mt. Eden gaol, in the presence of witnesses. No official information is available as to tlie contents of the document which has been handed by the magistrate to the Sheriff, and is being forwarded by the latter to the Minister of Justice at Wellington. It is understood, however, that the condemned man admitted he and another man robbed Ponsonby Post Office. It i s alleged a third man shot Braithwaite. Both the men mentioned in the statement are in Auckland. So far as can lie gathered, no official action other than that of forwarding the statement to the Minister has been taken.
