The Rev Steele Craik, Chaplain to the New Zealand Forces in an address opposed Mr Hughes’ policy towards the enemy countries. He expressed the view that the demands of common sense, pointed to the wisdom of renewed commercial relations with the. erstwhile enemy countries. Germany was beaten and punished as stipulated. “Hence in the name of humanity,” he said, let the war end. Mr Levy accepted tho office, making Labour’s strength 25 to 24, Nationalists and Progressives combined. Mr Levy has resigned his membership of the National Party, owing to the attack made on him in yesterday’s debate. Mr Fuller lias been elected Lender of Ibe Opposition.
