AN ARAB BRUSH. (Received This Day at 8 a.m.) (LONDON, April s'*. A British cavalry outpost repulsed an Arab raid near G-nhlee. Afterwards, while destroying the rebels ammunition, the squadron was almost surrounded and driven towards the base. Meanwhile a neighbouring garrison cx;/rienced a hostile concentration at Haimm. Arabs and only prevailed after a charge of Indian Lancers.

WELLINGTON .This Day James Newberry was charged with -t----tempted murder of Mrs Cooper and her sister Miss Skjoth and was committed for trial. The evidence was that he was engaged to Mrs Cooper at one time but it-was broken off. During the night of April Bth Newberry got into lier horse and assaulted both women with an iron bar. The medical evidence was that Mrs Cooper was seriously injured. ’Hie use of such a weapon was just as likely to kill as injure. Newberry had been severely wounded at the front and had been in hospital practically all the time since he returned.
