INFLUENZA IN RUNUNGA.
(Grey Argus). Runanga is still in the grip of the influenza epidemic and conditions in that township are anything but good. There are at present 150 cases, 38 having been notified since last Friday. Mr J. O. Fletcher, Health Officer, proceeded to Runanga yesterday morning, and as a result of his visit persons wishing to leave that township must sign a. declaration to the effect rthat no one in the house in which they are living has contracted the disease or that they have been convalescent for a stipulated number of days.
Five fresh cases were reported up till noon yesterday, and last night a patient was conveyed to the Grey Hospital in a serious condition. The State Mine will be closed for the remainder of the week on the instruction of the Health Officer, and railway tickets will not he issued unless passengers can produce the necessary certificate. One hundred and twenty-five miners were absent from the Liverpool Mine yesterday owing to their contracting influenza.
