AMUSEMENTS.

POLLARD’S PICTURES.

“THE SENTIMENTAL BLOKE,” TONIGHT. There comes to-night at the Princess Theatre, a notable production in C. J. Dennis’ picturisation of his world famous work, “The Sentimental Bloke” in eight acts presented under the direction of E. J. Carroll. The broad human appeal such fidelity to all that is best in average life and experience that it promptly made a new record, and was just as promptly pirated in America. The poem is faithfully and comprehensively expressed, its situations interpreted. There is a fine glow of reality in the picture and no lack of thrill. The Bloke takes in individuality and character as human and the dimpled Doreen thus realised in the flesh is a delicious and delightful “bit of goods.” It may be that such blokes and such Doreens are rare in actual experience but it is claimed that whoever sees the picture . will cordially agree that in that rarity there is matter for regret. .Mr Abel llowe, the well-known tenor singer will render “Doreen.”
