It says outrages virulently revived in 1919, during which armed bands have attacked the police on nine occasions, and many other crimes were committed.

The memorandum says a determined attack was on 20t of last month mado on a police hut. The windows in the hut were riddled with bullets. Four constables were within, however, and returned the fire. They beat off the assailants. A similar attack was made on another hut, the conflict lasting an hour. Armed men also attacked Bradford police barracks on August 3 and entered barracks at Newmarket, where they bound police with ropes, seized carbines, revolvers, ammunition and departed in three motor-cars. A sergeant and constable were returning to Allanbarn on August 4th and were held up by armed men. A conflict ensued, the constable being killed The sergeant died later of wounds.
