A JAPANESE VISIT.
AND QUARANTINE RESTRICTION
Tlie Government lias received information that another Japanese squadron will arrive in New Zealand waters in June and as the vessels will rail at Ho. hart on their way to New Zealand there will be some question as to whether they will be allowed to berth at any wharves in New Zealand without being subject to the quarantine restrictions. Mr T. Young, Japanese Consul in Wellington, has applied to the Minister of Public Health to know what will he the position. The Hon. G. W. Russell said yesterday that he did not think it would be possible to make any exception in favour of the visiting men of war. They would have to he subject to the quarantine regulations which might at that time be in force.
Mr Russell has received a most interesting souvenir of the visit of Admiral Matsuinura's training squadron to the southern waters. It is a large volume almost handsomely produced, ftill of splendidly made illustrations, and is altogether a most desirable post, session.
