POLLARD’? PICTURES

“IN THE BALANCE.”

Phillip Oppenheim’s novels are always interesting and one of liis most famous “The Hillman” has been picturisecl by the greater Vitagrapli Company under the title of “In the Balance ” and will be presented by Pollards in the Princess Theatre on to-morrow (Thursday) evening. The story tells of a recluse in the lulls, a woman hater, until one day fate throws in his way a guest, a stage beauty. He worshipped her, and the picture becomes then one of passionate power. His rival spoke evil of her and lie was prepared to defend her, hut she could not defend herself. Earle Williams and Grace Darmond are seen in the leading roles. As pictured by Earle Williams, “ Strangeway,” the recluse, stands out as a striking figure on the screen, and quite leads up to the reputation of the book. “ The Life Current,” the sth chapter of “ The Mystery of the Double Cross,” is quite equal to previous episodes and still disguises the identity of the masked stranger. A most interesting picture is a Patlie study of “ A Trip Through Hawaii.”
