TAKING -EVIDENCE
In the case of J. Mcllwoe v. G. AleInroes, a claim for £2 ss, the evidence of AY. Scott, Stock Inspector, was taken on commission.. AIR HUTCHISON'S FAREWELL.
At the conclusion of the business, Mr Hutchison, S.M., said he had come to Hokitika that day mainly to say good bye to the members of the bar. He left the Bench with a personal regret. He had always been more attracted to Westland than any other part of tho West Const. Its scenic beauties were equal to any part of the known world. He had always boon received with great kindness in Westland, and this caused his severance of their pleasant relations to be a matter for regret. He thanked members of the Bar for the consideration they had always shown him. Their relations had at all times been cordial in the extreme. Mr Park (Crown Prosecutor) paid a tribute to the attention and ability ■•• f Mr Hutchison, who had proved all that a magistrate and warden should be—the great ability he had shown redounded to his credit. He was very sorry at his severance of the pleasant relations that had always existed, and wished him and his wife a happy life. Air Weils endorsed the previous remarks, and wished him long life and happiness, tribnting the patience and assiduity shown throughout the big district, and the high efficiency of all his actions.
Mr Murdoch joined in the expressions of deep regret and voiced his appreciation of the conspicuous ability shown by Air Hutchison in liis three years’ stay on the Coast. He heartily endorsed the expression of high esteem by the Bar and suitors generally. Air Sellers also endorsed the previous remarlts ) and extended liis best wishes to Air Hutchison and family. Air Hutchison expressed his thanks for the very kindly references made.
