GENERAL HAIG’S REPORTS.

HEAVY ATTACKS, LONDON, April 15. Sir Douglas Haig reports that fighting occurred this afternoon in the neighbourhood of Bailleul and * AYuiverglien and is being continued. Hostile artillery is active between Givenchy and Robeck.

General Haig reports that the eneiny, last evening, launched a very heavy attack, preceded by an intense bonibai'din'.eut,. between Btailleul and Neuve Eglise. Three picked German divisions, not previously engaged in the battle, delivered the assault, and after a fierce, bitter struggle, carried the high ground south-eastward and eastward of Bailleul, knowil as Mont Dellille and the Revelsberm. We have fallen back to new northward of Bailleul and Wulverghem. Bailleul fell into the enemy’s hands. A fresh German attack was developing this morning in the neighbourhood of Wytseliaete.

We repulsed an attack, under cove; of heavy artillery and trench mortar fire, south-westward of Vieux Berquin, and took prisoners.

A successful minor enterprise was carried out south-eastward of Robccq.
