(By Telegraph —Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding the above- sales on Wednesday. I*'at Cat tle—-There was a very heavy yarding, and the quality wa : s excellent all round. Prices for good steers were equal to last week. Cows and heifers were a: shade cheaper, hut, freezing buyers were still unable to operate at Government prices A line of West Coast steer s topped the market at up to £27 ss. Other steers brought £lB 10s to £23; medium and unfinished, £ls to £l7. Cbws .and heifers, £l2 to £lf> 10s, and up to £2l for extra. Store; cattle—-There was a medium entry, but no big stoer s were included. Tiie demand was distinctly slacker and sales were hard to make. Good yearlings mixed sexes, £6 4s to £0 15s; 2year old steers £8 10 s to £9 4s ; dry cows up to £lO 15. Store sheep.—There was a good entry, mostly made up of wethers, but owing to the dry weather, prices were decidedly easier all round. Best, wethers, 26s (id to 295; best ewes, 35s to 28s; 2-tooth wethers, from‘2l s 4d "to 245.
Fat sheep—There was a: similar yarding to last wpek, hut the market, hi our opinion, was a good deal easier. The quality, all round, was not- up to the recent yarding. Best ewes sold to 395; prime 30s to 35s 9d; lighter and inferior, 245; to 295. Wethers all round were in sympathy.
