THE WESTLAND ELECTORATE.
QUESTION OF HEADQUARTERS
At the meeting of the Greymouth Borough Council last evening. The Minister wrote re electoral boundaries, stating that he could not see his way clear to change the headquarters of any electoral district The letter added that the Returning Officer at Hokitika was most capable and there was no reason to make any change. The Mayor stated that he had wired the Prime Minister o n the matter.
Cr. Smith thought the Council could not deal with the letter as it was a reply to a private letter sent by the Mayor.
C'r. Doogan said that we are bound to go .in with Hokitika. He thought the mayor’s action should be endorsed in trying to get Greymouth as the centre of the Westland electorate.
The Mayor stated that he thought it was fitting that Greymouth should he the cenre and that was the reason he was prompted Jo send the telegram;,.
The Mayor’s action was endorsed
