RAILWAY FARES AND FREIGHTS. INCREASED NEXT SUNDAY. ' WELLINGTON, Nov. 22. . Increases in railway fares and freights are gazetted to-night and come j nto . operation on Sunday next. Passenger fares are to be increased by a penny for every shilling or fraction of a shilling of the amount of the fare now charged. Exception is made in favour of ordinry season tickets, and workers weekly tickets. Rates for goods and luggage are to lie raised ten per cent, the minimum increase to be one penny.

IMPORTATION OF DRUGS. WELLINGTON, Nov. 22. A notice in the Gazette prohibits the importation of preparations purporting to be remedies for the drink and drug habits. KTELY GETS THREE MONTHS. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 22. A court-martial sentenced Tom Kielv of Greymouth, to three months’ hard labour for failing to report for military service.

WAR TROPHIES,

WELLINGTON, Nov. 22.

The Defence Minister has received the following telegram from General Richardson in England: “Am arranging to ship next month two German field guns, 50 machine guns and 8 trench mortars, captured by the New Zealand Division. They will be shipped as they become available. Distribution of unclaimed trophies will be made by the Imperial authorities after the war.”
