THE HOUSE.
The House met at 2.30 p.m. In the House the Expeditionary ,Forces Amendment Bill wa s received j with (amendments from the Legislative Council, consideration of which was set down for the next sitting day. Hon. Han an introduced the Statute Land Amendment Bill with amendment* in various directions of tho "Education Act 1914.
The Prisons Act, Counties Act, Defence Act, Land Allotments, Finance Act, Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, Registration of Trade and Commerce Act, and the Registration of Aliens Bill passed all stages, with amendments.
The House rose at 11 10 p.m., till 2.30 o’clock on Monday afternoon.

It was decaded to disagree with the amendments made by the Legislative Council in the War Regulations Bill, regarding retiring allowances of civil servants compulsorily retained in the the service. Hon. Herdman, Messrs Parr, Veitcli and Buddo were appointed managers to confer with the Council. A CONFERENCE. Sir, James '.A|len moved that the amendment made by the Legislative Counoil in the Expeditionary Forces Amendment Bill, eliminating the exemption of clergy and teachers, be not agreed to, on the ground that the amendment was not in the best interests of the country, j IHon. Massey, Sir Joseph Ward, ssnr , J. Findlay and the mover were appointed as managers to confer with the Council. j -MARK OF RESPECT. | The Hons© adjourned at 3.35 p.m. as a mark of respect to the memory of j th© Mato Hon. William Beqhan, a ' former member of t-lie Legislative Council. j ANOTHER CONFERENCE. I At the evening sitting, Sir James lAjlljon moved' tihat a conference jb© held with (the Legislative Council. This was agreed to. NO AGREEMENT. ' At 9.30 p.m., the managers returned and the Speaker reported that they bad been unable to come to any agreement.
another. EFFORT. Sir James Allen moved that a fresh conference be asked for, the Hons. Herries and Macdonald, Mr Wilford and the mover to be the managers. This was agreed to. At 9-40 p.m., the House rose till 11 a.m. next day.
