A hurricane sometimes attaining a rate of one hundred milea aU Jfcui swept the South of England for twentyfour . hours. There were several wrecks in the Channel. It is the worst August in Wales on record. . x Much damage has been caused to the wheat and fruit'crops. Thousands of acres of wheat have been cut and harvesting has been impossible for ten days. The shortage of labour makes it impossible for many farmers to ropnir the damage by hand labour, particu,ar]y in the hopficUis There are serious floods m Males. The situation in Ireland owing to the rain, is also serious.
