In the Chamber an animated debate took place on the possibility of establishing a republic. It is revealed that a majority of the deputies favoured 'republicanism. M. Venezelos, replying said: ‘‘Despite the blow which King Constantine dealt to the Monarcliial system of Government, making final the trial of Royal institutions, this is the last t-x periment we shall attempt, but the majority will sincerely wish to make a regime of a crowned Republic strong and safe.
