WESTLAND ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

'l’lie monthly meeting of the Society was held at the County Chambers last evening, Mr. D. J. Evan's,' Vice-presi-dent, occupying the chair. Correspondence was read from the Government thanking the Society for the valuable assistance given Mr. Ayson in the hatching and distribution of the fry from Kokatahi hatchery. Also from the caretaker giving particulars of, ora collected and work done. A vote of £5 . was passed to the caretaker for extra service's rendered, Tlie caretaker offered lb trap opossums of 10s per pair,. And ten pairs were ordered for South Westland.

The Ross .Borough Council forwardi donation of two guineas, which was received with thanks. It was reported that 40,000 eyed ova would he despatched to the Duller. Society this week.

Complaints were made in regard to illicit fishing for trout and shooting of doer in the district. It was resolved to Offer a reward of £5 for information leading to the conviction of any of the offenders. Reference was made also to the use of set lilies for catching trout, which it was reported had been offered for side. It was resolved to draw the attention of licenses to the conditions of the license, and ill case of any breach to cancel licenses find prosecute for the offence made.

Secretary and Treasurer (re-elect-ed with acclamation), Mr. Jns. King; Council: Messrs -Braddon, E. J. Idoyd, Brandt, Blank, Harrop, Mclntosh, A. B. King, Rooney, Shiva,s, and Th*. Teiehelmann. The meeting then concluded.
