BRISBANE, Jan. 4th

There are no further details from Clermont. The losses are heavy. Rains arc falling and the flood waters are again rising. ■BRISBANE, Jan. 4. The flood at Hughenden is the largest for 25 years.

The whale outlying country is inundated.

<So far there is no loss of life at-Rock-hampton. The river has risen forty-five feet and is still rising. The wharves are flooded. BRISBAN7, Jan. 4.

Many houses on the roofs of which familes had refuged were swept away and overturned.

Most pi tine women and children were drowned.

A number of men managed to swim to safety. Mr. Crawford an ex member of Parliament and his wife fled to the roof of their house, which afterwards drifted.

Mr. Crawford was drowned, hut his wife, after being swept away for miles was rescued.

There was much destitution, hut sufficient food supplies are now available.

The devastated country is a gruesome spectacle, with dead stock strewn every where and the bodies of horses, cattle and sheep are hanging to the trees, and piled in heaps on the river banks.
