Floods Threatened. Napier Jan 3 Following exceptionally heavy and almost continuous rain, which has fallen since Monday night, the rivers are in flood, and unless the bad weather noon abates , serious damage is threatened. Fortunately the months of the rivers were free from bars, but on account of the unprecedented amount of water running the riverbeds are unable to cope with the heavy volume. W Hastings reports that the rivers are -riaiDg rapidly, and if it continue* muoh longer all she low lying country will •certainly be flooded. In some parts of the country a good deal of hay is slid -out and there seems little prospect of -saving it.
